The Fruit Picker and my first Calgary Harvest

What a gorgeous day to spend outside harvesting apples. You would think as a long-time Calgarian, that this weather would be what stood out most about today, but I am so excited about the Lee Valley Fruit Picker that we were able to try out today. Thanks Stacey for sending it with us. I think it will be the highlight of all apple harvests this season! What a weird looking contraption, but does it ever get the job done. I feel like I have to say that small things amuse small minds, but you just wait, you will all be joining me in praise of this tool. And I have a feeling thst some of you will find its other uses as well, please be sure to share, remember, I am amused.

Today was my very first experience with Calgary Harvest as a coordinator and along for the ride was my husband,  and my 16-month old (or for those who aren't close by to appreciate the weekly and sometime daily changes in these little ones, almost  1 1/2), who was packed with snacks. We had a warm welcome and felt in good company; andI must admit, besides identifying with Stacey's many projects, it was comforting and affirming to see other little ones around for the experience. Thanks Angie for putting the babies together to entertain each other, good thinking and one less job for the mommas. Thanks for a great experience!
